Worship is the heart of what we do at St Mary's. We believe that every person is called to be one of God's pilgrim people and that it is through coming together to worship that we can know, love and follow Jesus.

Much of our worship is centred on the Eucharist, also known as Holy Communion, The Lord's Supper or The Mass. It is at the Eucharist where we follow Jesus' command to 'do this in remembrance of me' as he instructed his disciples in the Upper Room at the Last Supper.

You will find a variety of styles in these services of the Eucharist, one or more of which we hope will draw you into the beauty and freedom of God's love. All of the Eucharist services use the modern Common Worship text.

Regular Sunday Services

Eucharist - this is a 'said service' (no hymns or music). It is a quiet devotional service with a short sermon. Usually around 40 minutes in length.

Sung Eucharist  - this is a traditional service. It is supported by a robed choir and full team of servers to add to the beauty and dignity of the service. Traditional hymns are sung and incense is used. Usually 70 minutes in length.

Sung Family Eucharist with Junior Church -  this is a family-friendly service and a more informal feel is aimed for. Modern worship songs with some more well known traditional hymns are used, all supported by a choir. On the first Sunday of the month this is an All-Age Eucharist where the children stay in for the whole of the service and are encouraged to take an active part in the worship. Usually 60 minutes in length.

We use the Book of Common Prayer for the much loved service of evensong. The beautiful language of the prayers together with readings from the King James version of the Bible make for a lovely end to the day. On the first Sunday of the month this is Choral Evensong with the choir, usually followed by Benediction.

Refreshments are served in St. Mary's Centre after the 9.30am and 11.00am services.
